Like many of you (I’m assuming here), when we first went into lockdown, I thought that we would miss one, perhaps two months of RENDEZVOUS events. As it turns out, COVID was worse than we’d expected and as a result, our entire spring, summer, autumn, and more than likely, winter events have or will be canceled. Obviously, none of us are happy about this, and we’d love nothing more than to be able to hang out with all of you again. Early on during quarantine, fellow resident DJ and RENDEZVOUS graphic designer extraordinaire, Carlos Rossi, came up with the brilliant idea of starting up a weekly virtual screening event which he called the Rendezvous Film Club, or RFC. This turned out to be a great way for us to stay connected with our friends and patrons, and since it’s virtual, anyone from around the world can tune in!

In terms of delivering content, we’ve experimented with a few different delivery platforms and we quickly realized that for us, it is much more enjoyable to do a “live” screening with an accompanying chat room. In a way, this sort of resembles what we had at the Hyperion Tavern – a group of dedicated cult film aficionados sitting quietly up front, and the rest of us blabbermouths sitting in the back giving everyone around us a drunken audio commentary whether they asked for it or not. It’s amazing to see what it’s morphed into over the past 5 months. We’ve gone from simply sourcing movies off YouTube to creating original DJ mixes (after all, soundtrack and library music collecting is our primary focus) that are accompanied by a carefully curated mash-up of trailers lovingly pieced together by our in-house virtual projectionist, Oliver Brink.

This month, we are thrilled to be partnering up with our dear friends at Severin Films for a month-long celebration we are calling, Sev-tember. Severin was our very first sponsor when we began showing movies on a more consistent basis some seven years ago or so, and so we thought that it’d be only fitting to work with them for this program. We will be screening some Laura Gemser goodness, sleazy Fulci fun, a British video nasty, and rounding it out with some Ozploitation! Coupled along with resident and guest DJ sets, Sev-tember promises to be a treat for fanatics of sinful celluloid.

All screenings are on Saturday evenings at 6:30 PM Pacific time and can be found at

Anyone can join in the fun, but registering for a free account allows viewers to join us chatty Cathys in the chat room. Just be advised that all events are B.Y.O.B.
